Yum Spaghetti Sauce

Note: All these measurements are approximate, except for the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce, I usually just pour stuff in until it looks good.

1/3 c. olive oil
2-3 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. black pepper
1 sprinkle of basil
1/4 lb. ground beef
1-28 oz. can crushed tomatoes with basil
1-8 oz. can Hunt's tomato sauce with basil, oregano, and garlic

Add olive oil, garlic powder, and pepper to a saucepan and heat. Add ground beef and saute in olive oil mixture. Sprinkle in basil. Just after the beef is browned add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Simmer for about 20 minutes (or longer if you want the sauce to be thicker).

And there you have it, yum spaghetti sauce! This recipe is pretty much my dad's spaghetti sauce, so I can't really take much credit for it. Also, in my family we eat rigatoni pasta with our spaghetti sauce instead of spaghetti noodles, and I am a firm believer that the type of pasta used makes a big difference so give rigatoni a try! Enjoy!

You are very brave letting her cook with you like that, if I were to do that, I would be cleaning them up and everything they pulled out of its place and then not have time to actually make the thing I am making. Well, maybe Cala is actually a calm child, my kids definitely aren't.

I think it's really cute that you and Cala match while cooking in the kitchen. Very cute! I'm glad the 18th is a good birthday to have... we'll keep that in mind. :)

So we tried this last night, and it was amazing. I don't nomally like tomato sauce, but this was so great. I didn't have a big enough pan, so I had tomato sauce all over the kitchen, but it was well worth it :)

adrienne i found your blog through your sister blog . Cala is soo cute and tiny i love it . Emilee has finally had a growth spurt and is now catching up to clothes that are around her age . no more 12 month clothing . It was really sad matthew was wearing 18-24 month clothing and he is only 15 months and there is emi only wearing 12 month clothing . So how is New York treating you .
