A: "I just read something really cool. Can I read it to you?"
M: "Sure"
A: "Ok, but first I just want you to know that after I read it to you, I want you to be excited about it and tell me how enlightening it is, and not be skeptical and tell me all about how you disagree with it."
M: (laughing) "Ok, I'm ready."
(I read it to him)
M: "Wow, that is really insightful. There is a part that I'm not sure how I feel about it, and by that I'm not implying that I don't agree with it...."
Ok, so we probably didn't use words like enlightening or insightful, but we did have that conversation without either of us getting frustrated that the other wasn't responding the way we wanted. So maybe one day when we are very old, Mark will be able to read my mind and intuitively know what I want him to say, but for now I'll take this :)

Your post made me laugh really hard! Gustavo and I have the exact same problem!! I really wish that sometimes he gets excited about things that I tell him or things that I enjoy... oh well, I am with you, I still have high hopes that that will happen some day!
